FAQ

THE WALK EXPERIENCE

What is UJA's Walk with Israel?

UJA’s Walk with Israel is organized by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto. It is the largest annual event in Jewish Toronto and one of the largest Israel solidarity walks in the world. First held in 1970, the Walk is an inspiring show of Jewish unity, pride, and support for our unbreakable bond with the land and people of Israel.

Where and when is this year's Walk?

The Walk will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The exact location of the start, route, and finish will be announced closer to the time.

How can I get to the Walk?

We recommend taking public transportation or rideshare services (e.g., Uber) as parking will likely be very limited around the Walk route.

Is there a shuttle bus?

Check back here to find out about future shuttle bus information.

Can I join the Walk mid-route?

Is there a rain date?

We’re encouraging everyone to join the Walk at the kick-off location. Our hope is that people who want to be able to join the Walk mid-route will be able to do so. However, if this is what you’re planning, we ask that you exercise lots of patience. The crowd is going to be large and because we're taking significant security measures, there may be locations along the route that are temporarily blocked or inaccessible.

The Walk will happen rain or shine. Please make sure to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

Although the Walk with Israel does not feature a run, UJA welcomes the entire community to Walk with us in solidarity with the people of Israel, and in joyful support of this signature annual event.

Is the Walk only for members of the Jewish community?

Absolutely not! Every year, we are pleased to welcome allies from various cultural and faith communities at the Walk. Israel continues to be a source of inspiration, hope, and meaning to many Canadians who aren’t Jewish. Just like last year, we are mobilizing our friends beyond the Jewish community to join us in showing their support for the only democracy in the Middle East—and their solidarity with Jewish Canadians at a time of rising antisemitism.

No, unfortunately not. For safety reasons, the City of Toronto does not allow bikes, rollerblades, or any wheeled device aside from accessibility devices or strollers along charity event routes. There will be lots of children walking and we wouldn’t want any small toes to get hurt, so please abide by this rule to ensure everyone has a safe experience.

The Walk route is designed with accessibility in mind. Should you have any questions, please contact us at info@walkwithisrael.com.

No, pets are not allowed to participate in the event.

Can I bring my own signs?

If you’re walking with a team, organization, or group, we encourage you to make your own signs that showcase your personality in a creative way. As the Walk is a family-friendly event, we ask that all participants ensure their signs are free of hateful or graphic imagery or language.

THE WALK FESTIVAL

Is there a party after the Walk?

It is so important for our community to unite and celebrate our Jewish joy! As such, the Renee & Irwin Nadal Walk Festival will feature kid-friendly activities, delicious food, exciting performances, and beautiful opportunities to honour the resilience of Israelis. For a full list of activities and performances at the festival, click here.

How do I become an exhibitor at the Walk Festival?

We are thrilled to be bringing back the Shuk for this year’s festival! It’s the perfect marketplace to show off your merchandise and connect with thousands of community members. Click here to let us know of your interest.

What is the 19+ Social Lounge?

At this year’s Walk Festival, we are excited to offer the 19+ Social Lounge! This area will be available to those of drinking age and the additional fee will include an alcoholic beverage and a premium food item. Add it to your cart when you register!

SECURITY

What security measures are in place?

As we do every year, we have developed a detailed security plan in co-ordination with Toronto Police, to ensure every community member can enjoy the Walk with confidence in their safety. We’re also continuing to elevate our security measures, some of which will be visible and some of which won’t be made public for operational reasons. In total, we will have a combined security presence of hundreds—encompassing police officers, private security personnel, and trained volunteers—as well as lane closures and barriers throughout the Walk route. We’ll be closely monitoring the Walk surroundings throughout the entire event, using a combination of on-the-ground personnel and technology to rapidly identify and respond to any issues of concern.

What happens if there is an emergency situation at the Walk?

UJA will communicate any emergency or safety instructions as quickly as possible to Walk participants via email and/or text message.

What do I do if I encounter anti-Israel protestors?

Walk proudly and ignore them. Anti-Israel activists have every interest in falsely portraying the pro-Israel movement as extreme—and one way to do that is to provoke us into on-camera confrontations. We must refuse to be baited or intimidated. The Walk is not about changing the minds of haters, but rather about uniting our community, celebrating and supporting Israel, and sending a powerful, positive message to the world that we will always stand up for what we believe in. We also cannot forget that our kids are watching. So many of us have happy memories of walking with Israel every year, an experience that shaped our love for Israel and community. Our kids and grandkids deserve (and need) to form that same connection.

Will action be taken against hateful protestors?

UJA is working with and relying on Toronto Police to enforce the law and safeguard our community. Law enforcement will be present in significant numbers and are well aware of planned anti-Israel protests targeting the Walk. In 2024, Toronto Police announced: “If they come to the Walk with a criminal intent or to do anything criminal, they can expect to be charged. We will be there, and we won't tolerate any criminality.” Toronto Police also shared that they will be working to create a buffer between protestors and those participating in the Walk so as to ensure public safety. Each of us at the Walk has a responsibility to do our part, including by following the directions of police and reporting any suspicious or criminal behaviour to officers on site.

REGISTRATION

Is there a registration fee for the Walk?

Yes, registration fees are required and are non-refundable. Your registration fee helps cover administrative and operational costs related to the event. This way, all donations raised can be used to support vital programs in Israel. We believe that every community member and ally should be able to participate in the Walk without facing financial barriers. If cost is a challenge for your family, please connect with us at info@walkwithisrael.com

How much is the registration fee?

Through the generosity of our sponsors, we have been able to lower the prices from last year! Pricing for 2025 is as follows:

  • $24 for individuals aged 3 to 12
  • $28 for individuals aged 13 and up
  • $96 for a family pack of four—this is any combination of people (e.g., two adults and two children, one adult and three children, etc.)

What is included with my registration?

For each person registered, they will receive a Walk T-shirt, Israeli and Canadian flags, a Festival entry wristband, and a Meal Deal ticket.

The first 1,800 registrants received a free Walk with Israel baseball cap, which is now sold out.

Do I need to register by child if they are below the age of three?

You do not need to register a child under the age of three. However, they will not receive swag or a Meal Deal ticket.

How will I receive my Walk kit?

If you register before May 10th, your kit will be mailed to your home, free of charge.

I registered but did not receive my Walk kit. How do I get it?

Please contact us at info@walkwithisrael.com.

Can I use my username and password from last year?

No, participants for the 2025 Walk with Israel will need to create new credentials for this year’s event. Please select the registration fee that applies to you and create a new log in.

I am having difficulty registering. What should I do?

UJA has tried to make registration as easy as possible. If you are having problems, please contact us at info@walkwithisrael.com.

DONATIONS

Is there an offline donation form I can download?

Yes! Download the offline donation form here or contact our Walk team at info@walkwithisrael.com.

Every dollar you raise goes directly to support the people of Israel through UJA’s programs and services. We are continuing to help Israelis on the long road to recovery after the October 7th attacks. We are also reminding our community of our ongoing support for our three partner cities: Bat Yam, Sderot, and Eilat/Eilot. Through Walk dollars and other UJA funding, we fund financial support for victims of terror, mental health services, provide essential items to those experiencing vulnerability, and much more. Learn more about the impact of your dollars here.

Who sends out donation receipts for online and offline donations?

I have lost my original donation receipt and need a duplicate. What should I do?

UJA issues donation receipts for all donations over $10 made to UJA’s Walk with Israel. All donations will receive receipts after the Walk (June or July). If an eligible donation was made online, the receipt will be emailed. If an eligible donation was made offline and no email address was given, a physical receipt will be mailed.

Email us at info@walkwithisrael.com. Please provide as many details as possible about the receipt to help us in sending the correct one (e.g., amount, date, etc.).

I am having trouble viewing my donation receipt that was emailed to me.

Please ensure that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your device before opening your receipt. If you're still having issues, please contact info@walkwithisrael.com.

Will donation receipts be mailed to me?

All eligible donations made online will get a donation receipt via email. If a donation was made offline and no email was provided, we will mail you a physical donation receipt.

Will Mac Mail cause any issues receiving my donation receipt?

Unfortunately, Mac Mail does not allow you to easily find the emailed donation receipt. Please try an alternate e-mail client or contact us at info@walkwithisrael.com and we can assist you.
